Duikersdrift provides guests with an abundance of activities and amenities to ensure an exceptional stay. Complete with a restaurant, swimming pool, vineyards, olive orchard, and dam, the farm promises an unforgettable experience with activities for all ages and tastes. The picturesque location in the heart of the Tulbagh Valley offers a perfect base for exploring the surrounding area and discovering all the beauty and adventure that the Cape Winelands has to offer.

wine Tasting

Discover the unique flavors of Duikersdrift. Sample Duikersdrift Wines with an informal wine tasting set against the backdrop of our mountain views. Wine tasting starts at R100 p.p. for three wines. Due to limited production volumes, wines and wine tastings are subject to availability, and bookings are recommended.

Duikersdrift Picnics

With sweeping mountain views, Duikersdrift is a top picnic spot in Tulbagh. Prepared by the on-site Daphne’s Bistro restaurant, the picnic baskets are made with the freshest ingredients and Italian flair, offering a rustic outdoor dining experience on the banks of our dam. The restaurant can also assist with vegan and other dietary preferences if discussed in advance. Picnic baskets are available to both visitors and cottage guests, and must be ordered at least 24-hours in advance.

Duikersdrift Parkrun

Duikersdrift is proud to be the home of Tulbagh’s only Parkrun event. The Duikersdrift Parkrun features a 5km (3.1mi) trail run that winds throughout the farm, across different outdoor terrain. Parkrun is a free and fun event that takes place every Saturday at 8am and everyone is welcome to join, whether you prefer to walk, jog, run, spectate, or volunteer. After the event, head over to the restaurant to enjoy a post Parkrun breakfast and socialize with fellow runners.

Mountain Biking​

Cottage guests are welcome to explore the farm and Tulbagh Valley by bike. We offer recreational adult mountain bikes to rent at R150 per bike, per day, or you can bring your own. With Tulbagh being a mountain biking hotspot, adventurous guests can also follow one of the many official MTB trails throughout the valley after purchasing a permit from the Tulbagh Tourism Office. The use of your own bike is recommended for MTB trails.

Fishing​

Cottage guests can enjoy the thrill of the catch with recreational fishing at our farm dam, provided that fish are immediately returned to the dam as we practice catch-and-release fishing. We offer fishing rods to rent at R150 per rod, per day, or you can bring your own.

Bird Watching

For bird enthusiasts, Tulbagh is a veritable paradise. The valley boasts a vast array of birdlife, making it an ideal destination for twitchers of all levels. Duikersdrift is a haven for birds of all shapes and sizes, from grassland to wetland species, as well as raptors soaring above. Look out for birdlife such as the Blue Crane (South Africa’s National Bird), the African Fish-Eagle, the Secretarybird, the Jackal Buzzard, the Western Barn Owl, Spotted Thick-Knee, the striking Purple Heron, and many more.

Walking & Hiking Trails​

Follow the trails that meander through our vineyard and olive orchard, exploring the tranquil surroundings at your own pace. For the more adventurous, Tulbagh’s mountain ranges beckon with numerous hiking trails. These offer the opportunity to discover the Cape’s unique and diverse flora and fauna, as well as stunning waterfalls that flow during the rainy season. Guests can easily purchase hiking permits from the Tulbagh Tourism Office.

Grape & Olive Harvest​

If you happen to be staying at Duikersdrift during our annual harvest season, don’t miss the chance to learn about our grape and olive harvesting process firsthand. You can help us gather the ripe grapes and olives to be used in the production of our wine and olive oil – it’s the perfect way to immerse yourself in the farm’s culture!

Abundant Wildlife

Tulbagh boasts a rich and diverse range of wildlife, making it a fantastic destination for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts alike. In addition to our resident farm animals,  there are a number of small wild animal species that also call Duikersdrift home. Some of these species include porcupine, mongoose, jackal, bush duiker, small-spotted genet, cape grysbok, snake species, and even the rare bat-eared fox. If you’re lucky, you might just spot one of these amazing creatures, but even if you don’t, you can always keep an eye out for their tracks and signs throughout the farm.

Obiqua Café Mongolian Stir-Fry Thursdays

Visit Obiqua Cafe at Duikersdrift for a unique and interactive dining experience every Thursday night. Create your own stir-fry by choosing from a selection of delicious ingredients and watch our talented chef cook up your meal in front of you. Mongolian Stir-Fry Thursdays make for the perfect date-night or social event with friends and family.

Price per person is R195 for adults and R125 for kiddies, which includes dessert and a soft drink.

Tulbagh Christmas In Winter

Marvel at Christmas trimmings and glittering lights, browse arts, crafts, galleries, and shops. Enjoy cheese and olive tastings, pony rides,  face painting and tractor trips for the little ones. Take a scenic tractor trip up Oudekloof Pass or go on a horseback outride or Zipslide adventure. Join winemakers for tastings, tours, and activities. Experience log fires, Christmas trees, winter lunches, and traditional fare at restaurants. The Winterland Blues Festival will be held at The Bike Forge and a music event at Reflections Guest Farm. Ticket includes programme, entrance to 5 Museums, and a chance to win a R30,580 prize at Aquila Private Game Reserve. Gate takings support CHAIN – Community Helping Animals in Need.

Experience the rich cultural heritage through locally made traditional dishes and tasty treats. It will be a day of family entertainment, music, fun events, and an opportunity for visitors to spend the weekend in the country reliving days gone by.

This year the highlight of the event will be a wine auction presented by Beyers Truter.
