The picturesque location in the heart of the Tulbagh Valley offers a perfect base for exploring the surrounding area and discovering all the beauty and adventure that the Cape Winelands has to offer.

Duikersdrift Tastings
Discover the unique flavors of Duikersdrift. Sample Duikersdrift Wines and award-winning Extra Virgin Olive Oil with an informal wine tasting or olive oil tasting available from Obiqua Cafe. Visitors can also enjoy a cheese tasting, or sample Buchanan’s Brewery craft beer with a paddle tasting or signature beer and food pairing experience. Please note that, due to limited production volumes, wine tastings are subject to availability, and bookings are recommended. Kindly take note of the Obiqua Cafe closure date of 1 October 2024 to avoid any disappointment.

Guest Pool & Hot Tubs
Cottage guests can escape the summer heat with a refreshing dip in our secluded sparkling pool, or lounge in the shade of one of our poolside pergolas with a refreshing drink in hand. On cooler days, Couples Cottage guests can unwind in our new private wood-fired hot tubs and enjoy the beauty of the sunset over the mountains and the starry night sky.

Duikersdrift Parkrun
Duikersdrift is proud to be the home of Tulbagh’s only Parkrun event. The Duikersdrift Parkrun features a 5km (3.1mi) trail run that winds throughout the farm, across different outdoor terrain. Parkrun is a free and fun event that takes place every Saturday at 8am and everyone is welcome to join, whether you prefer to walk, jog, run, spectate, or volunteer. After the event, head over to the restaurant to enjoy a post Parkrun coffee and socialize with fellow runners.

Duikersdrift Picnics
With sweeping mountain views, Duikersdrift is a top picnic spot in Tulbagh. Prepared by the on-site restaurant and deli, our hearty picnic baskets are made with the freshest ingredients and offer a rustic dining experience for foodies, couples, families, kids, and vegetarians. The Deli can also assist with vegan and other dietary preferences if discussed in advance. Picnic baskets are available to both visitors and cottage guests. Kindly take note of the Obiqua Cafe closure date of 1 October 2024 to avoid any disappointment.

Cottage guests can enjoy the thrill of the catch with recreational fishing at our farm dam, provided that fish are immediately returned to the dam as we practice catch-and-release fishing. We offer fishing rods to rent from R150, or you can bring your own. Fishing rods are subject to availability.

Mountain Biking
Cottage guests are welcome to explore the farm and Tulbagh Valley by bike. We offer recreational mountain bikes to rent from R150, or you can bring your own. Note that our mountain bikes are subject to availability. With Tulbagh being a mountain biking hotspot, adventurous guests can also follow one of the many official MTB trails throughout the valley after purchasing a permit from the Tulbagh Tourism Office. The use of your own bike is recommended for MTB trails.

Walking & Hiking Trails
Follow the trails that meander through our vineyard and olive orchard, exploring the tranquil surroundings at your own pace. For the more adventurous, Tulbagh’s mountain ranges beckon with numerous hiking trails. These offer the opportunity to discover the Cape’s unique and diverse flora and fauna, as well as stunning waterfalls that flow during the rainy season. Guests can easily purchase hiking permits from the Tulbagh Tourism Office.

Bird Watching
For bird enthusiasts, Tulbagh is a veritable paradise. The valley boasts a vast array of birdlife, making it an ideal destination for twitchers of all levels. Duikersdrift is a haven for birds of all shapes and sizes, from grassland to wetland species, as well as raptors soaring above. Look out for birdlife such as the Blue Crane (South Africa’s National Bird), the African Fish-Eagle, the Secretarybird, the Jackal Buzzard, the Western Barn Owl, Spotted Thick-Knee, the striking Purple Heron, and many more.

Abundant Wildlife
Tulbagh boasts a rich and diverse range of wildlife, making it a fantastic destination for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts alike. In addition to our farm residents, which include three cows, two horses, and nine donkeys, there are a number of small wild animal species that also call Duikersdrift home. Some of these species include porcupine, mongoose, bush duiker, small-spotted genet, cape grysbok, snake species, and even the rare bat-eared fox. If you’re lucky, you might just spot one of these amazing creatures, but even if you don’t, you can always keep an eye out for their tracks and signs throughout the farm.

Grape & Olive Harvest
If you happen to be staying at Duikersdrift during our annual harvest season from March to May, don’t miss the chance to learn about our grape and olive harvesting process firsthand. You can help us gather the ripe grapes and olives to be used in the production of our wine, olive oil, and other products – it’s the perfect way to immerse yourself in the farm’s culture!
